Sand digging and other pursuits.

It was such a gorgeous day we decided to go to the beach and set off in high spirits. As soon as Wendell sees the water he charges straight ahead and splashes in. Today, he was not even bothered about barking at other dogs. He was too keen on exploration, digging and swimming. It was very warm and Wendell dried off before we arrived back home. He needs a shower now, because he stinks of seaweed…yuk!

  1. I have fond memories of visiting Margate as a child and of the Shell Grotto and caves (now so sadly under threat).
It’s been some years since I visited though and I’m guessing its changed a bit. Looks like Wendell had a lot of fun xxx

Margate sands and cliffs are as lovely as ever, Sarah but I think you would be shocked at the seedy decline here. I have only lived here for four years or so and I am saddened at the difference in that time. On another note, we had a great day, thanks.

  2. Wow! Looks brilliant Penny! Dog’s seem to love the sea and sand don’t they? How I wish I lived somewhere by the sea. It must be fantastic to be able to go for walks on those lovely golden beaches with the sound of the waves lapping on the shore!

We are lucky, indeed, to have the beach so close, TG. We all enjoy it but Wendell goes mad for it. The beach is closed to dogs at the end of April, so we are making the most of it. I hope your health continues to improve. Take care, Pen.

  3. Hi Penny that looks great! ( How did you get your pictures to come up like that? ).
We’re busy planning a week in Snowdon in September now.. giving me long enough to break some walking boots in and teach my legs to work a bit better when climbing. Sucker for punishment I think!

Hiya Eileen… I use windows live writer to write my posts and that is just one option for the photos.
      Get breaking those boots in:>)

  4. Hi Pen,
Looks like you all had a very pleasant time at the beach. Where is the piccy of YOU???
wendell is the ‘sort of dog’ that makes me wish that I had a dog! I’m thinking ”dog? or freedom of the open highway, to go wherever I please with drew” I suppose if i even have to ask myself that question then I’m not really deserving of a dog’s company! But I would like to think that maybe one day.. (actually there is a potential problem as drew has asthma, and we did have to give up our cat, some years ago now.) but i guess where there is a problem there is also a solution- right? I believe that some dogs don’t ‘cast’ but ideally I would want a dog to love just for its own wee self, and not necessarily for the sake of its breeding!
complicated eh? lol I hope you have a great weekend Penny! thanks for all your comments over in FB re: my hospital dramas. I might blog about them in here sometime.

    • dunno why I called you ‘Pen’

      • penelopephoebe

Hiya Mags, Everybody calls me Pen. If I get called Penny, or worse, Penelope, I know I am in trouble, lol. Lots of dogs don’t shed but the problem for asthma sufferers can be the dander (shed skin) from pets. Getting Wendell has given Terry and me a new lease of life. He is a joy to have around.

Thanks for popping in, Andro. Yes, Wendell loves a good frolic in the sea. He does not seem to feel the cold. The weather is back to cold and grey today.
